How it works
A short guide for everyone who lands here for the first time — eaters and farm owners alike.
For eaters
- Start with a location or a listing type. Use the search bar at the top of any page. You can search by city, postal code, or ZIP, or browse the nine listing categories — farmers markets, CSA programs, u-pick farms, farm stands, organic farms, heritage-breed farms, farm-to-table restaurants, farm stays, and food hubs.
- Browse the directory. Every province and state has its own page; every city has its own page; every category has its own page. Click into a listing to see hours, contact details, the farm’s website, and a description.
- Visit, eat, contact. Use the contact form on a listing, or visit the farm in person. Owner-verified listings have a green Verified badge.
- Subscribe to the Weekly. Optional. Every Wednesday we send seasonal recipes, new listings near you, and what’s in season in your province or state. One email, no spam, unsubscribe in one click.
For farm owners
- Find your listing or request a new one. Visit the farm owner page and search for your business. If you find it, click Claim. If not, request a new listing and an editor will review it within 48 hours.
- Claim and verify. Create an account, then verify ownership using one of three methods: a phone code to the listed business number, a meta tag on your farm’s website, or a document showing your name attached to the business.
- Manage your information. Once verified, your dashboard lets you edit your description, upload photos, set hours, and reply to inquiries from your customers. Updates go live immediately.
- Upgrade if it makes sense. The base listing is free forever. Premium tiers add a featured badge, priority placement in your category, a customer contact form, and basic analytics — see subscription plans.
How we keep listings fresh
Every claimed listing is owner-maintained — the farm itself controls what appears. Unclaimed listings are reviewed by our editorial team at least once every six months. If a farm closes, we mark the listing as inactive within 30 days of confirmation. If you spot something out of date, email us via the contact page.
